Film Storytelling Makes an Entrance at Upcoming Travel Trade Shows
Film storytelling continues to grow in its importance within the travel trade. One needs to look no further for evidence of this than new plenary sessions and award categories sprouting up through key trade shows this fall season. Both The Adventure Travel World Summit and World Travel Market are heightening the presence of this amazing genre within their event programmes.
The Adventure Travel World Summit is hosting it’s inaugural film screening, Adventure in Motion “to celebrate the role that creative storytelling plays in motivating travelers to pack their bags and seek adventure.”
Our film submission for Adventure in Motion weaves together landscapes, characters and conversations from destinations all over the globe. The intent? To distill down to its essence, the common themes in sustainable tourism and adventure travel and to communicate them forward in a powerful and inspiring way.
What’s more, World Travel Market has also created a brand new category for the Responsible Tourism Awards titled “Best Short Film for Responsible Tourism.” We’re pleased to share that GLP’s film “Basecamp Foundation: Pioneering Sustainable Tourism in Kenya’s Masai Mara” is one of 21 films being considered for the first-of-its-kind award.
This film showcases the incredible progress the Basecamp Foundation has made in the realm of sustainable tourism in Kenya’s Masai Mara region. In partnering with the region’s local Maasai community, they were able to establish the Mara Naboisho Conservancy, which serves to protect the Masai Mara-Serengeti ecosystem, nourish the local wildlife, and position the Masai Mara as a tourism destination that sustains and empowers local communities.
While we are humbled to see our stories continue to gain audience and exposure, we’re especially proud to see the genre as a whole increasing its profile within the trade. GLP has been working in travel storytelling since 2007 with a vision that storytelling and film are essential to supporting sustainable tourism development.
Adventure in Motion: ATTA Inaugural Film Screening
Advance screenings and intimate conversations with filmmakers will entertain delegates at the Adventure Travel World Summit’s first adventure film screening. Selections, drawn from international film festivals, will help draw attention to the role of creative storytelling in motivating travelers to pack their bags, to distinguish destinations and tour operators from their competitors, and to advance important causes.
