GLP Films joins the Africa Wildlife Foundation (AWF) as they launch the Chiawa Cultural Village in Zambia, a cultural tourism enterprise which empowers local people to benefit from the tourism trade while protecting environmental and cultural treasures. Chiawa Cultural Village invites visitors to engage with the traditions, trades, tools, edifices and arts of the Goba people who have lived alongside (and often in conflict with) the wildlife that have made this region famous.
Africa Wildlife Foundation (AWF) faces down conservation challenges in the Zambezi Heartland (which includes Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique) through conservation with and by the people of Africa, uniting locally managed enterprise with sustainable ecological policy vital to preserving both land and culture in Africa.
AWF also works with Conservation Lower Zambezi (CLZ), a research and environmental education center based in Lower Zambezi that battles poaching, habitat encroachment and other resource abuses. They also assist ZAWA (Zambia Wildlife Authority), providing field and class studies as well as outreach and sensitization programs within surrounding communities.
