“How Can We Help?”
This is often the primary question we ask our film partners, industry colleagues, or organizations who approach us. Typically, these are business-related conversations and the goals are market-driven challenges to be solved. That’s our business, of course. However, our passion is storytelling and showcasing great people doing great work. And that motivates our drive to give back to our community.
Sometimes the need presents itself and we extend our expertise and passion to help others meet their needs. Either way, if it's helpful, we are here to craft the best story we can.
Sustainability Storytelling Competition
MARKING A MILESTONE
As our 15th year in business approached, we did a lot of team brainstorming to think of a meaningful way to celebrate and give back. Unsurprisingly, we decided on storytelling to mark this milestone for GLP Films. And our Sustainability Storytelling Competition was born.
HIGHLIGHTING UNTOLD STORIES
GLP’s Sustainability Storytelling Competition (SSC) invited organizations of any size, from any industry, to submit their untold story of sustainability for a chance to win a pro bono, carbon-neutral GLP video production and global distribution package.
The inaugural competition had six categories that covered critical issues around climate and environment, community, and social justice: Sustainable & Regenerative Tourism, Sustainable Food, Environmental Justice, Conservation & Nature, Communities & Cultural Preservation, and Best of the Rest, to capture outstanding stories outside the main categories.
The 2022 Grand Prize Winner of the Sustainable Storytelling Competition was the Sierra Gorda Ecological Group (SGEG). The SGEG is a conservation alliance organization with an entrepreneurship and social participation model that correlates economic development with biodiversity conservation. #Tourism Strong
#TourismStrong is an inspiring video series campaign celebrating the passion, commitment, and resiliency of the travel industry amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The series shares real on-the-ground and impactful stories of resilience from the travel trade industry.
Hosted by GLP’s Founder Rob Holmes, the initial goal of the series was to give back and help the travel trade industry through authentic and positive storytelling amidst COVID-19. Therefore, during the pandemic, GLP reconnected with its global family of over 150 film partners across 50 countries. The result was a dynamic, engaging, and insightful conversation of first-hand experiences from the leaders across the travel industry, revealing positive stories of resilience, adaptation, and innovation as they faced one of the most challenging times in history.
Get ready to be inspired! Check out our collection of powerful films - 23 in all - that we worked on collaboratively to produce during the pandemic for #TourismStrong.
Tierra del Fuego, Chile: The Man at the End of the World
Sometimes throughout the work that we do, we encounter characters or stories that are so compelling that we have to tell them even if it is pro bono work. This is the case with the film “The Man at the End of the World”, a self-produced documentary film by GLP.
This award-winning film allows you to discover the beauty and mystery of Tierra del Fuego, Chile through the eyes of one of its original pioneers, Don Germán. He and his wife live on the scenic shores of Lago Fagnano, a location ripe for tourism and on the brink of major government-sponsored development. Witness the estancia way of life, born out of isolation and a passion for working the land, and how tourism could be the thing that saves it.
