Assistant Video Editor

 

Position Overview

GLP is seeking an assistant video editor to support various post-production tasks, including organizing raw footage, logging shots, syncing audio, creating rough cuts, and essentially ensuring the primary editor has all necessary elements readily accessible for smooth editing workflow. This is a project-based position and will report directly to our primary video editor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Media management: Reviewing and logging raw footage, and categorizing shots.

  • Pre-editing tasks: Transcoding proxies, organizing footage, syncing audio tracks, and creating rough cuts based on the primary editor's instructions. Also utilizing tools within Adobe Premiere to subtitle interviews with transcriptions, translations, and SRT files.

  • Collaboration: Communicating with the primary editor to understand project needs and implement feedback. 

  • Quality control: Checking for errors in footage and editing sequences

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro. Experience in After Effects and Photoshop is also preferred.

  • Organizational skills: Ability to manage large volumes of footage efficiently 

  • Attention to detail: A keen eye for identifying errors and ensuring accuracy 

  • Communication skills: Ability to clearly communicate with the primary editor

  • Creativity: Understanding of visual storytelling techniques
