Public Relations Specialist
Position Overview
GLP is seeking a dynamic, creative, and highly skilled Public Relations Specialist to amplify the company’s voice and reputation across the tourism, outdoor recreation, conservation and sustainability industries. This exciting new position will be responsible for crafting and executing strategic PR campaigns, managing media relations, and creating compelling content that aligns with GLP’s mission, values and campaign needs.
This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent communication skills, a knack for storytelling, and a passion for sustainability, travel, outdoors and/or conservation. The ideal candidate will have experience in public relations, media outreach, and content creation, with a proven track record of building brand awareness and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations
Develop and maintain relationships with journalists, influencers, and media outlets in the sustainability, tourism, conservation and/or marketing sectors.
Proactively pitch stories, press releases, and other media opportunities to relevant publications.
Monitor and report on media coverage, providing insights and recommendations for future campaigns.
Content Creation
Help write and distribute press releases, media kits, and other PR materials.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create blog posts, social media content, and other materials that enhance brand visibility.
Ensure all content aligns with GLP’s mission, values, and voice.
Strategic PR Campaigns
Plan and execute PR campaigns that drive awareness and engagement for GLP’s initiatives and client campaigns.
Identify and capitalize on opportunities for thought leadership, including speaking engagements, awards, and partnerships.
Measure the success of campaigns using analytics and provide actionable insights for improvement.
Requirements
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in public relations.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications or Marketing.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with media professionals.
Proficiency in media monitoring and all current PR tools.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge, interest, and experience with travel, outdoor recreation and/or sustainability issues is preferred.
Ability to thrive in a virtual environment.
Solid team player, enthusiastic, self-starter, and proactive.
Excellent writing, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Mac / Apple devices (e.g. Mac computer), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar), and experience with related applications.
