Kayaking to Fort Gorges, Casco Bay

Portland Paddle:

If you are going to truly experience Greater Portland, you have to get on the water. Portland Paddle wants everyone to explore Casco Bay, offering tours and classes for kayak and stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) to get you safely on the bay.  Or relax and unwind at one of their unique yoga classes. There are special offers just for Mainers...this is your chance to try something new.

Eastern Promenade Trail:

Hike, bike, run or swim.  However you like to stay active, the Eastern Prom is the place to do it. Water views, great trails, dog-friendly and beach access.  Work up an appetite for all that great food!

Peaks Island:

“Let’s get right to the point, there is not much to see on Peaks Island except for the beautiful views and the quaintness of the island.” That sounds perfect! A short ferry ride takes you to an idyllic place right off the coast to hike, bike, bird or just enjoy the salty breezes.

Wolf’s Neck Farm:

This is an amazing sustainable travel destination just minutes from downtown Portland. There’s an array of family-friendly experiences to connect you with the farm. Trails to explore. A true farm-to-table cafe. Bike and kayak rentals. And a unique camping experience on the coastline.

Portland Head Light:

There’s a reason this is the most photographed lighthouse.  It’s spectacular.  And even if you’ve seen it before, the view is never the same with the endless variation of sea and sky.

Food

Mami:

Not sure where to start your international culinary journey in the Portland area? How about at a casual, family-run restaurant featuring delicious, Japanese street-food specialties that highlight the freshest local ingredients and creative spirit of the chef-owner? An exciting gastronomic journey starts with the first bite...

Harbor Fish Market

This is a true, working fish market that supplies the freshest seafood to Portland’s restaurants (like, Mami!) and to everyone who wants the best the ocean has to offer. It’s picturesque (photos welcome) and staffed with friendly and knowledgeable people.

The Porthole Restaurant and Pub:

This is a local favorite.  A friendly hangout recommended by...everyone. Pete the lobsterman recommends it as his go-to seafood on Portland’s working waterfront. Great food. Great views. A great place to grab a bite and feel like a part of the community.

Thompson's Point:

Lively and local describes this district of Portland. Located along the Fore River, you can explore the area, enjoy local food, craft beer and wine. There are outdoor arts and music events, so check their schedule to see what’s on the lineup. And don’t miss the food, fun and activities at Summer Sunsets.
